Pressure drop diagram
Direction of flow
The circulation pump must move the water through the boiler in
the direction of flow indicated.
The diagrams on this page are system principles – the actual
system will be designed according to the applicable standards.
Any additional equipment must be installed as specified by the
relevant manufacturer.
Open expansion system
The safety pipe must be connected in a continuous and unisolatable
rise to the expansion vessel. The head must exceed the pump's
lowest permitted statistical pressure on the suction side.
Closed expansion system
<2.5 bar, <100 kW and <110 °C
The safety and venting valves are mounted on the boiler safety pipe.
>2.5 bar, >100 kW and >110 °C
The safety valves, emergency protection, pressure switch and
venting valve are mounted on the steam header on the boiler’s
supply and safety pipe.
Heating system with water heater
The boiler heats the water heater and the heating system. A shunt
valve is used to control the supply temperature to the heating
system.
When the shunt valve is closed, the flow through the boiler is
maintained with circulation through the water heater.
If the boiler safety line is not connected to a vented
expansion vessel, it is essential for the safety line to
have automatic venting. Air would otherwise collect
at the top of the boiler, causing problems when the
level switch indicates a low water level.
