Rescue Tool
23.1
Overview
The Rescue Tool allows administrators to access a limited number of settings through a command line menu.
Functionality available through the Rescue Tool is described below.
Note:
The Rescue Tool is not the DIGIPASS Command Line Administration (DPCLA). DPCLA is an
extension of the TCL8.4 scripting language, which allows interactive command line and scripted
administration of DIGIPASS related data. The DPCLA is only accessible to VASCO experts.
23.2
Access
The Rescue Tool serves as a 'rescue tool' allowing options described in the following section. As a rescue tool, only
the user name, 'rescue', is necessary, and no password.
Access to the tool is achieved (local to the aXsGUARD Identifier) by:
plugging a screen and keyboard directly into the aXsGUARD Identifier, or
connecting a workstation or laptop computer to the aXsGUARD Identifier using a 'Serial Null Modem Cable'
plugged into a serial port on both devices. This requires configuration specific to the operating system of the
workstation or laptop computer.
For instructions on how to connect to the Rescue Tool, please refer to the
aXsGUARD Identifier Installation Guide.
23.3
Options
The Rescue Tool can be used to:
Reset aXsGUARD Identifier configuration settings to factory default settings. This means that licenses are
removed, configuration data is lost and even network settings are re-set. The same conditions apply as with
first time installation (see section
Reset the 'sysadmin' password. If the Rescue Tool is used to delete the current system administrator
password, the password defaults to 'sysadmin'. When the aXsGUARD Identifier is accessed, the Configuration
Wizard detects that only the 'sysadmin' password needs to be changed and only presents this page of the
Configuration Wizard for completion. The Configuration Tool is not accessible until the password has been
changed.
Change and view network settings, e.g. changing the aXsGUARD Identifier IP address. After the Rescue Tool
has been used to change the IP address, the same conditions apply as described in section
