Configuration Tool
The
Configuration Tool
interface supports installation and management of the aXsGUARD Identifier and is intended
for use by system administrators. In section
, we introduced the concept of the convenience layer, which
comprises the functionality supported through the aXsGUARD Identifier Configuration Tool.
Some of the functionalities managed through the Configuration Tool require connection to VASCO's Service Center
(VSC). The VCS is explained in section
The convenience layer comprises the following functionality, supported through the Configuration Tool:
Installation configurations: a Configuration Wizard supports installation configurations and is explained in depth
in section
. Manual configurations are also possible after completion of the Configuration Wizard, using the
Configuration Tool (see section
Registration: all aXsGUARD Identifiers need to be registered. The standard procedure and exceptions are
explained in section
(the registration procedure requires connection to the VSC).
Semi-automatic updating (pro-actively prompting update, but still within the control of the administrator).
Downloading and installing updates to the aXsGUARD Identifier are explained in section

Backup and Restore: the purpose and procedures for backup and restore functionality are explained in section
Auditing and Logging: information generated from the aXsGUARD Identifier can be searched using live viewers
(see sections
System statistics: statistics are available on the aXsGUARD Identifier, the services, the disk, memory and
interface (see section
Message Delivery Component: this is the component supporting the use of the virtual DIGIPASS and is
explained in section
Remote support: remote support can be provided by VASCO experts and is explained in section
(remote
support requires connection to the VSC).
LDAP User Synchronization: synchronization supports automatic creation and updating of User Account records
from an LDAP Server to the aXsGUARD Identifier (see section
).
Replication: the purpose and possibilities with replication are explained in section
System actions: reboot, shut down, and resetting default administrative user passwords are actions possible
using the System Actions menu in the Configuration Tool. Instructions on how to use these options are
provided in the
aXsGUARD Identifier Installation Guide.
Note:
Please note that only the system administrator with the name 'sysadmin' can access the
Configuration Tool.
During installation, the system administrator's ('sysadmin') password must be changed.
Installation cannot be completed without changing the password. This is a security precaution.
