6.1
Overview
Registration is the process of identifying an issued aXsGUARD Identifier to the VASCO Service Center for the issue
of a license key to make the appliance fully operational. After installation, and before registration, the Configuration
Tool and Administration Web Interfaces are accessible for configuration and management, but no services, such as
authentication, are available.
The registration procedure is supported by a
Registration Wizard
. The Registration Wizard is accessible through
the aXsGUARD Identifier Configuration Tool (see section
on the Administration Interfaces).
First time registration and certain exceptions to the first time registration are described in this chapter.
6.2
First Time Registration
The Registration Wizard supports a request-response dialog between the aXsGUARD Identifier and the VASCO
Service Center. The VASCO Service Center server handles registration, updating and remote support for the
aXsGUARD Identifier. The infrastructure and how to access the VASCO Service Center are explained in section
The registration process comprises four main steps:
1.
When the aXsGUARD Identifier is accessed for the first time following installation (see section
), a warning
message in the Configuration Tool advises the system administrator that the appliance is not registered, and
provides a link to launch the Registration Wizard. The Registration Wizard requests a series of data,
including:
IP address at the appliance site (auto detected)
the administrator's email address
aXsGUARD Identifier serial number and license number
organization's contact details
reseller name
...

The administrator needs to enter the requested data.
3.
The Registration Wizard saves these data together with other system data and sends them to the VASCO
Service Center.
4.
The data is validated by the VASCO Service Center. If valid, the aXsGUARD Identifier license key and support
certificate (see section
) are returned and stored on the aXsGUARD Identifier.
