3.3.11 Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)
NetCam complies to the EN 60950 standard. In order to ensure flawless operation of
NetCam and all connected peripherals and cables, sufficient shielding against strong
sources of electromagnetic fields can be necessary. Possible sources of interference
are RF transmission equipment, computers and peripherals, electric motors, electric
radiators, electric welding equipment, ignition installations for motor vehicles and
lightning.
If NetCam is installed in such an environment, where electromagnetic interference is
to be expected, its consequences should already be eliminated or at least minimized
at time of installation. To this end, identified source of strong electromagnetic fields
should be removed or shielded. Additionally, cables connected to NetCam could be
guarded in an appropriate manner.
3.3.12 Installations in Lightning Endangered Areas
Considering equipment in lightning endangered zones, coaxial high voltage surge
protectors are to be connected in series with the video cables. These high voltage
surge protectors should be installed at the entry of the cable into the building where
the NetCam unit is located. In addition, appropriate lightning conductors should be in-
stalled in closest proximity to the cameras. In highly endangered areas, the use of fi-
ber optic cable is recommended for suitable isolation of the video signal.
