On-screen display can be configured to appear continuously, or, alternatively, just in
case of an active alarm. In the latter case, the on-screen display can be frozen by se-
lecting the option ’Hold’. Now, even if the original alarm condition disappears, the dis-
play will still reflect the alarm cause. Otherwise the display will follow the alarm
condition.
The sample picture below reflects an active alarm input ’0’ together with ’Modem’
alarm, as depicted by the bright white display of the characters ’0’ and ’M’. The display
further shows that also alarm input ’1’ and ’Video’ alarm both have been enabled, to
be recognized by the gray plotting of the characters ’1’ and ’V’. Alarms that have not
been enabled will not appear in the on-screen display.
6.4.2
Activation of Alarm Inputs
Below the configuration field for on-screen display, all available alarm sources are list-
ed. The list changes in accordance to the number of inputs provided by the connected
NetCam type. By selecting the check box ’On’, each alarm source may individually be
enabled.
•
Video Alarm checks the input signal of the selected camera for synchronization
pulses. If the camera fails, an alarm condition will be generated.
•
ISDN Alarm supervises the ISDN connection for availability. If the ISDN connec-
tion fails, e.g. by a broken cable, an alarm condition will appear, which can be
communicated using an alternate network connection, for example using an ex-
