protection should be disabled for alarm calls.
6.9.4
Real-Time Clock
All NetCam units feature an internal battery-backed real-time clock, which is set to
MET at the time of delivery. Under certain circumstances it can be necessary, to re-
adjust the clock, e.g. when the unit is operated in another time-zone or precise align-
ment with the internal clock of the connected PC is wanted.
This is accomplished by pressing the ’Set’ button, which will effectively copy PC date
and time information into the NetCam unit.
The internal real-time clock will automatically be synchronized with the time informa-
tion included in ISDN protocol messages, provided that time information is available
from the ISDN network entity (usually only for outgoing i.e. alarm calls).
6.9.5
Unit Name
In addition to naming the connected cameras, the unit itself can be given a name. The
name could be chosen to reflect the location where the unit is installed or the type of
application supported by the respective NetCam, just to name two possibilities.
If ’Name Stamping’ is enabled in the camera configuration dialog, the unit name will
appear in front of the camera name, separated by a colon.
6.9.6
Unit ID
Entering a unique unit number will facilitate automatic identification of connected Net-
Cam units. To this end the number can be retrieved by the receiver immediately after
connection establishment, for example. The configured ID may also be used to auto-
matically identify incoming alarm calls without regard to the supplied telephone caller
number. Advantageous usage of the unit ID includes cases where sender units are
operated from varying locations or the caller telephone number is not available, e.g.
when connecting over the conventional analog telephone network.
The unit ID can be retrieved any time during an active connection, even without the
necessity to login, in case the sender unit is password protected. IDs are limited to 12
digits and restricted to numbers only. The configuration is stored in non-volatile mem-
ory.
