MSN/EAZ
If a NetCam unit is operated on an ISDN S
0
-bus together with other ISDN terminal
equipment, configuration of the EAZ/MSN number is required. The number is used to
distinguish NetCam from other ISDN units. Some ISDN branch exchanges will also
require the setting of an EAZ/MSN in order to identify connected terminals.
The Euro-ISDN protocol (DSS1) supports the concept of ’Multiple Subscriber Num-
bers’ (MSN), while the German protocol (1TR6) uses ’Endgeräte-Auswahlziffern’
(EAZ). The following comparison describes the difference:
MSN (DSS1): MSN is a complete telephone number (without area code). It is nec-
essary to program the entire number that NetCam should respond to.
Only if the number dialed corresponds to this MSN, NetCam will ac-
cept the call. Entering a ’0’ (zero) will cause NetCam to answer every
call (global call).
EAZ (1TR6):
The national German protocol regards the last digit of the phone num-
ber only. NetCam will accept the call as long as the last digit of the
number dialed matches the specified EAZ. Input of an EAZ = ’0’ (zero)
will cause NetCam to accept any call, regardless of the number.
F
Note:
The MSN/EAZ may only be configured locally using NCTerm.

Communication Protocol
Different communication protocols are available for the built-in ISDN terminal adapter.
In addition to selecting a particular ISDN protocol, there is an automatic selection fea-
ture, which is the factory default. In ’Auto-Mode’ NetCam will adapt to the used ISDN
protocol automatically.
In combination with certain ISDN PBXs, especially those models which are also ca-
pable of adapting to different protocols automatically, NetCam sometimes fails to
identify the protocol correctly. In these cases the wanted protocol, German 1TR6 or
the European DSS1, should be selected directly.
ISDN leased-line connection between two NetCam units
When leased line mode is selected, all D-channel signalling is effectively disabled. No
dialling takes place, instead both units will immediately start transmitting data in one
or both B-channels.
