Take safety precautions
A
Before starting work, disconnect the earth cable from the vehicle battery’s negative ter-
minal in order to prevent short circuits. For this purpose, follow the safety instructions of the
vehicle manufacturer (alarm system, airbag, immobiliser, radio coding etc.).
The customer should be informed that various settings may be lost if the battery is discon-
nected and that anti-theft codes (e.g. for the radio) may have to be entered again follow-
ing installation (if not previously deactivated).
Installing the control unit
Before installing:
Ensure suitable cable routing and that the required cable length is available.
1. Attach the control unit at a suitable point using the supplied screws. (Suitable loca-
tions could be e.g.: at the end of the centre console or behind the glove compart-
ment.)
A
Do not install the control unit near vehicle control units.
Connecting loudspeakers
A
If the navigation system has already been connected to a vehicle loudspeaker (e.g. using
adapter cable MA 1300), the hands-free unit must not be connected to the same vehicle loud-
speaker via the integrated loudspeaker crossover.
The control unit features a built-in loudspeaker relay for connecting the hands-free unit
to one of the vehicle loudspeakers. The relay connections are brought out at the hands-
free unit power supply cable (see Fig 5 on page 3 and table on page 31).
Option 1
1. Cut loudspeaker lead to the desired loudspeaker.
2. Connect the violet and green leads of the power supply cable to the (+) and (–) loud-
speaker connections.
3. Connect the black and white leads of the power supply cable to the radio/amplifier (+)
and (–) loudspeaker outputs.
4. Connect the yellow lead of the power supply cable to the radio/amplifier mute input
(if an input is present for the mute/tel. mute function).
Option 2
If telephone output is to be via the radio output stage:
1. Connect the violet lead of the power supply cable to the radio (+) telephone-in input.
2. Connect the green lead of the power supply cable to the radio (–) telephone-in input.
3. Connect the yellow lead of the power supply to the radio radio/amplifier mute input.
