Mute function
When the 'mute' signal is connected to the 'mute' input (if present) of the radio, the radio
is automatically muted when making a call with the hands-free unit.

The language for the screen displays and for the system messages can be selected in the
"Settings" menu. See "System Settings", page 24. English, French, German, Dutch, Italian,
Spanish, Swedish and Danish may be selected.
Putting into operation
There must be a suitable mobile phone in the holder in order to use the hands-free unit.

The following descriptions with regards to displays, messages etc. only apply
after switching from navigation to phone mode.
If there is no mobile phone in the holder, "Phone out" is displayed on the monitor. Place
the telephone in the holder.
1
On some mobile phones (see associated operating instructions), a special symbol (car
symbol) or a hands-free message is displayed when the phone is inserted in the holder of
the hands-free unit.
Whenever the system is not functional (no SIM card in phone, PIN number not entered, no
reception or during system initialisation), "Phone not ready" is displayed on the monitor.
Switching off
In stand-by mode:
After switching the ignition off, the hands-free unit remains in stand-by mode for a
further 15 minutes. During this time, the phone remains connected to the network and
the PIN remains active. If the mobile phone remains in the holder, recharging continues.
After 15 minutes, the hands-free unit and the phone are switched off.
If a button is pressed on the phone while the message "Display will power off if not used"
is displayed on the remote control, the hands-free unit can still be operated via the remote
control and display. If no button is pressed during the message, the mobile phone can only
be operated directly via the phone's keypad.
1
Special feature for Nokia mobile phones:
If a button is pressed on the mobile phone while the switch-off message appears in the
phone display, the phone remains switched on while the hands-free unit is switched off
after 15 minutes.
During a call:
After switching the ignition off, the hands-free unit remains switched on until the call is
ended.
