Ramp/Burst
Steps
The Ramp/Burst Steps section is used to do the following:
•
Selects which Steps to test during the Ramp and Burst
Configuration
t
ests.
•
Allows the user to configure Steps 1 through 5 with a
user-defined value for each of the %CIR Steps selected
to be
t
ested.
•
When selected, Step 6 tests 100% of the CIR% setting,
as configured on the Test side tab.
•
When selected, Step 7 exceeds the CIR, by adding
Excess Information Rate (EIR), as configured on the
Test side tab.
Each Step tests a gradually increasing percentage of the
maximum Committed Information Rate (CIR%) bandwidth, as
configured on the Test side tab screen for the selected
Service.
The Config Ramp test was designed to gradually reach and
then exceed the maximum CIR% by testing all 7 Steps (at their
default CIR% values), for each selected Service.
and the Step sizes configured for
default values, the CIR is configured for 5% bandwidth, Step 1
is configured for 10% of the CIR, and Step 2 is configured 30%
of the CIR, etc. Thus, Step 1 will test at 0.50% bandwidth,
which is 10% of 5%. Likewise, Step 2 will test at 1.50%
bandwidth, which is 30% of 5%, and so on. Step 6 (CIR) will
test at the full 5% bandwidth. And Step 7 (CIR+EIR) will test at
whatever the CIR+EIR bandwidth is configured for on the Test
side tab, where the
is difference between CIR and the
CIR+EIR value.
