Each VLAN tag adds an addition 4-bytes to the Ethernet Stream, consisting of the
following settings:
•
TPID
(Tag Protocol Identifier): The default value is 0x8100, but the menu lets
you select 0x88A8, 0x9100, 0x9200 or enter a 2-byte User Defined HEX value.
•
PCP/QOS
(Priority Code Point/Quality Of Service): This indicates the frame
priority level and is a 3-bit field ranging from the default value of 0 (best effort) to
7 (highest priority).
•
DEI
(Drop Eligible Indicator, formerly called CFI) : This is a 1-bit setting that
should remain set to the default value of 0, for Ethernet networks.

Enabling MPLS Label Stacking
MPLS (
Multi-Protocol Label Switching
) is a set of procedures for augmenting IPv4
and IPv6 packets with "label stacks", thereby turning them into "labeled packets". These
labels act as a shorthand representation of the IP packet's header. Routers which
support MPLS are known as "Label Switching Routers", or "LSRs".
dialog box allows up to 4 Stacked MPLS labels to be
configured per Ethernet Stream.
To enable Stacked MPLS labeling:
1. Select the Stream you want to enable MPLS tagging on by clicking the desired
stream in the
Stream Profile table
. The Traffic Stream Profile dialog box
appears.
2. From the Traffic Stream Profile dialog box, select the button next to
No
MPLS/VLAN tag
and choose
MPLS Tagging
from the Select Tagging menu.
3. Once MPLS has been enabled,
MPLS Level 1
becomes enabled and allows you
to modify that label's settings:
