Analyzing Fibre Channel Test Results

(Specifically for Fibre Channel SAN testing on the Packet tab)

Error and Alarm activity and other frame statistics can be viewed using the various
screens.

•

The

Config

>

Set

screen has a

Count Statistics Table

that displays a summary

view of transmitted and received Frame counts and Byte counts, as well as the
transmitted and received bandwidth

•

The

screens display all error and alarm counts and history, as well as

transmitted and received Frame statistics

•

The

System > All Ether Ports

screen displays a summary view for all of the

Ethernet and Fiber Channel test ports in the instrument (depending on the mode
of the test port)

•

The

System > All Test Status

screen displays a summary LED view for all of the

protocol processors including all HDEnet ports in the instrument

•

The status indicators and LEDs are displayed in the

LED Quick Status Area

and

in the

screen.

Timed Test - Using Acceptance Criteria

(Specifically for Fibre Channel SAN testing on the Packet tab)

This MPA unit has the capability to run a timed test (a test with Fibre Channel enabled
for a certain time period) specifying user-defined acceptance criteria for Pass/Fail
results.

To Set Up the Test

1. Set up the Fibre Channel port on which the test will be initiated. This includes the

Interface, stream parameters, etc.

2. Enable the test stream.

3. Under the

Results

>

tab, configure the

acceptance

criteria options. These include

Acceptable Bit Error

rate, and

Acceptable Loss

Rate

.

4. Under the

Test

tab, select the desired

Duration

for the test.
