Generic Framing Procedure provides for mapping various clients signals over a
SONET/SDH/OTN transport network. Frame-Mapped GFP (GFP-F) maps individual
client frames to individual GFP frames (such as Ethernet frames mapped directly to
GFP frames). See also

H1 byte
STM Pointer byte. Bits 1 through 4 represent the New Data Flag (NDF) value. Bits 5
and 6 are reserved. Bits 7 and 8 are combined with the H2 byte to identify the beginning
of a payload. This marker is called a Pointer.
H2 byte
STM Pointer byte. This byte is combined with the H1 byte to create the Pointer.
