processor/slot, and chassis is selected. See also
PPP
Point-to-Point Protocol. A protocol allowing computers to use TCP/IP to connect to other
computers over standard phone lines using high-speed modems.
PRBS (Pseudo-Random Bit Sequence)
A test pattern having the properties of random data, but generated in such a manner
that another circuit, operating independently, can synchronize on the pattern and detect
individual transmission bit errors. This test pattern is useful for simulating live data
traffic. PRBS patterns vary in size based on the maximum number of consecutive zeros
and consecutive ones allowed.
PRBS 6
PRBS 2
6
-1 generates a maximum of 5 consecutive zeros and 6 consecutive ones.
PRBS 6 Inv
PRBS 2
6
-1 Inverted generates a maximum of 6 consecutive zeros and 5 consecutive
ones.
PRBS 9
PRBS 2
9
-1 generates a maximum of 8 consecutive zeros and 9 consecutive ones.
PRBS 9 Inv
PRBS 2
9
-1 Inverted generates a maximum of 9 consecutive zeros and 8 consecutive
ones.
PRBS 11
