Scan

Trouble Scan. A scan function that lists received errors and alarms.

The

System Controller Module

contains the MPA's CPU and memory and Operating

System used to govern the software applications needed for testing the MPM test
modules, and replaces the

combination, by combining the functionality of

both cards, freeing up an addition MPM test module slot where the AM4022 Processor
would otherwise occupy.

SCPI

Standard Commands for Programmable Instrumentation. This is an instrument
command language for controlling a wide variety of instrument test functions in a
standard manner. SCPI promotes consistency, from the remote programming
standpoint, between instruments of the same class and between instruments with the
same functional capability. The SCPI port can be accessed via TCP/IP using Port 8090.
You can find more information about SCPI as well as a complete list of all available
SCPI command in the SCPI Command Reference Guide.

SDH

Synchronous Digital Hierarchy. A set of standard fiber-optic-based serial standards
planned for use with SONET in Europe. Some of the SDH and SONET standards are
identical.

SECBR

Severely Errored Cell Block Ratio.

Section

A SONET network Section span comprises the transmission medium and associated
equipment between a network element and a regenerator, or two regenerators. The
associated equipment includes optical interface and SONET processing equipment
which originates the Section Overhead or terminates the Section Overhead.

Section Overhead

In a Synchronous Transport Frame, nine bytes are delegated in the Frame Overhead
area of the frame for monitoring and maintenance of the frame signal across a section
span. The Section Overhead data is updated each time the frame passes through
Section Terminating Equipment. The functions of the Section Overhead include a frame
alignment pattern, a byte giving the order of appearance of this frame in a multiplexed
