1. Setting the Device Code : Direct Entry
Look up the correct code for the model and brand of your device in the code list (at the back of the manual). All the
examples in this manual start from the assumption that we are trying to programme device TVTXT1.
Hold SET and press device key TVTXT1 (the LED is on). Enter the 3-digit code and press POWER. You should now
be able to operate all functions of the device you have selected (TVTXT1 in this case). You probably have the wrong
code if this is not the case. Repeat this procedure with other codes from the list until you find the right code.
Do not wait longer than 10 seconds to execute the next step. Certain codes will enable you to operate some functions,
but not all of them. We advise you to keep searching until you find the code that allows you to operate all functions.
2. Setting the Device Code: Quick Search
Use the following procedure if the code for the device is not in the list :
Preliminary remark : do not wait longer than 30 seconds to press the next key.
Activate the device you want to operate. Hold the SET key of the VRC801 and press the button for the device in
question e.g. TVTXT1. Press SET again: the flashing LED indicates that the “quick search” mode has been activated.
Press POWER to try the next code and repeat this action until you have found the right code, viz. the code that allows
you to operate the ON/OFF function of device TVTXT1 with the POWER button of the VRC801.
If the quick search yields the desired result you will be able to control all functions of device TVTXT1. Check the
operation of all function keys with the exception of the device keys and the keys “SET” and “PLAY” for VCR &
HiFi/CD/LD. You have not found the correct code yet if you cannot operate the functions of device TVTXT1.
In this case you should continue the procedure until you find the right code.
You can reverse the direction of the code search in the “quick search” mode by pressing SET. The factory setting for
the direction of the search is “forward”.
Press the key for the selected device again (device key TVTXT1 in our example) if device TVTXT1 reacts to the signal
of the VRC801. This will confirm the code for device TVTXT1.
3. Switching to a Different Device
When you press the device key (TVTXT1 in our example) for the second time in order to confirm the code, the
VRC801 will leave the setting mode for the code of the first device. Select the second device you wish to operate. In
other words, press TVTXT2, VCR1, VCR2, SAT/CAB, CAB/SAT or HiFi/CD/LD. Use the procedure explained under
“1. Setting the Device Code : Direct Entry” or “2. Setting the Device Code : Quick Search ” to set the codes for the
other devices : TVTXT2, VCR1, VCR2, SAT/CAB, CAB/SAT, HiFi/CD/LD.
