Risers

The Velocity Recon is equipped with split “A” risers.  These enable “Big Ears”
by simply pulling the second “A” risers.  The risers also include parachute style
soft links.  These are used to connect the lines to the riser attachment points
in lieu of metal connection points.  The use of soft links not only is stronger
but weighs less and adds more feel.
Dual loop connection points in the risers allows for Engine Torque Compensa-
tion (ETC) without adjustment of the glider trimmers or your flight harness.  If
your engine is a torque “left” engine, then you will want to connect the
longest loop (red) on the left side and the inner (blue) on the right side.  For a
“right” torque motor, you will want to have the long loop (red) on the right,
and the short inner loop (blue) on the left.

Trims

The Velocity Recon utilizes a unique kind of trim system.  This trim system is
safety oriented and utilizes less than three inches of trim adjustability.  The
idea behind less trim is to enable the pilot to utilize more speed bar.  With
most gliders on the market today, they have in excess of 10-12 inches of trim
and it is our opinion that in the event of a collapse, having 10 plus inches of
trim out, makes the recovery of a reflex glider much longer as it is virtually
impossible to pull the trims to the close position with slack lines.  In the
Recon’s case, full trim out (approximately 3 inches) and the use of the speed
bar will allow the pilot to release the speed bar and technically leave the
glider with only 3 inches of trim out; this will allow for a much faster recovery
in the event of a collapse.
