 IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Read instructions carefully before installation and operation. Keep 
instructions for future reference and hand them over to any new 
user.

Safety

• VELUX solar roller shutter SST can be used 

by persons (aged 8 years and above) with 
sufficient experience and knowledge if they 
have been given instruction concerning safe 
use and understand the hazards involved. 
Cleaning and user maintenance must not be 
done by unsupervised children.

• Children must not play with the solar prod-

uct or the wall switch.

• Do not operate the solar product if repair or 

adjustment is required.

• It is recommended to place the wall switch 

in the room where the solar product has 
been installed.

• Disconnect the battery supply before car-

rying out any maintenance or service work 
and ensure that it cannot be reconnected 
unintentionally.

• As the window can be used as a rescue 

opening, the telescopic springs in the roller 
shutter must be changed every 5 years to 
guarantee safe use of the window and the 
roller shutter.

Putting into operation

To start using the wall switch, remove the tab. Press the DOWN key 
and the roller shutter will make a buzzing noise three times.
The roller shutter must be adjusted to the height of the window be-
fore full operation begins. This is done by pressing the STOP key and 
subsequently the DOWN key on the wall switch within 3 seconds. 
Do 

not

 interrupt the adjustment!

Once the adjustment has been completed, the roller shutter has 
been paired with the wall switch and is ready for use.

Note: 

If the power has been switched off, pressing the STOP key 

and subsequently the DOWN key on the wall switch within 30 sec-
onds after reconnection will result in a new adjustment.

Product

• The solar product is battery-powered and can be operated as long 

as the battery is charged. In case of discharging, the battery will 
recharge over the course of a few days (dependent on the amount 
of sunshine).

• The use of a solar product can be limited if it is facing north, the 

solar cell has been placed in the shade, or the daylight is blocked 
in other ways.

• For solar products, automatically activated programs may result 

in a quick discharge of the battery due to frequent operation of 
the products.

• Radio frequency band: 868 MHz, maximum radio frequency power 

transmitted: < 25 mW.

• Radio frequency range: 200 m free field. Depending on building 

construction, the indoor range is approx. 20 m. However, construc-
tions with reinforced concrete, metal ceilings and plaster walls 
with steel members may reduce the range.

• Expected battery lifetime of the wall switch: Up to 2 years.  

Batteries: 2 x alkaline AAA 1.5 V.

• The wall switch is based on one-way RF communication and 

marked with the symbol

. This symbol can be found under the 

battery cover.

• The packaging must be disposed of in accordance with national 

regulations.

•   The product, including batteries if any, is regarded as electri-

cal and electronic equipment and contains hazardous materi-
als, components and substances. The crossed out wheeled bin 
symbolises that electrical and electronic equipment waste must 
not be disposed of together with household waste. It must be 
collected separately at recycling stations or other collection sites 
or retrieved directly from households to increase the possibili-
ties of recycling, reuse and utilisation of electrical and electronic 
equipment waste. By sorting electrical and electronic equipment 
waste with this symbol, you contribute to reducing the volume of 
incinerated or buried waste and to reducing any negative impact 
on human health and the environment. Further information can be 
obtained from the local municipality's technical administration or 
from your VELUX sales company.

• If batteries can be removed, product and batteries must be dis-

posed of separately.

Maintenance

• If installed and used correctly, the product requires a minimal 

amount of maintenance only. It may be cleaned with a soft, damp 
cloth. In special cases with heavy leaf fall, it may be necessary to 
remove leaves and other debris from the side channels.

• To remove the solar product, use the installation instructions in 

reverse order. Replace screws in covers to avoid leaks.

• In case of accumulation of dirt on the solar cell, this should be 

cleaned with water and ordinary household cleaners to obtain 
maximum charging function. The solar cell should also be kept 
free from snow and ice during the winter period.

• Before any service work or disconnection of the solar product, it 

must be deactivated by pressing the button behind the end cap 
of the top cover twice (the motor makes a buzzing noise three 
times). It can be turned on again by pressing this button once and 
subsequently, within 30 seconds, pressing first the STOP key and 
then the UP/DOWN key of the wall switch. This will result in a new 
automatic adjustment to the window height.

• Maintenance and installation must be carried out in consideration 

of Health and Safety at Work requirements.

damit verbundenen Gefahren verstehen. Rei-
nigung und Wartung dürfen nicht von unbe-
aufsichtigten Kindern ausgeführt werden.

• Kinder dürfen nicht mit dem Solar-Produkt 

oder Funk-Wandschalter spielen.

•  Das Solar-Produkt nicht bedienen, falls Repa-

ratur-/Servicearbeiten erforderlich sind!
