6. Remove debris from screen with a brush, com-
pressed air, or water.
7. When required, remove dirt and debris from ra-
diator using compressed air or water. Spray from
the fan side of radiator only.
8. Check radiator
fi
ns for damage.
9. Reinstall radiator screen.
10. Close engine hood.

1. Park power unit on a level surface.
2. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.
3. Remove ignition key from switch.
4. Allow engine to cool.
5. Open engine hood.
6. Slowly open radiator cap to the
fi
rst notch to al-
low pressure to release.
7. Drain radiator coolant into a pan by opening the
drain valve (A) on the left side of the radiator
(Vanguard) or removing the lower radiator hose
(B) at the right side of the engine (Kawasaki).

1. Park power unit on a level surface.
2. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.
3. Remove ignition key from switch.
4. Drain system. Add one can of radiator
fl
ush, (can
be purchased at any auto parts store) and
fi
ll
with clean water.
5. Install radiator cap.
6. Start engine and run until it reaches operating
temperature. (160 - 180 degrees)
7. Shut off the engine.
8. Remove ignition key from switch.
9. Drain cooling system immediately before the rust
and dirt settle.
10. Allow engine to cool.
11. Fill radiator with clean water and allow to
fl
ush
out until the water comes out clear.
12. When water has drained from radiator, close the
drain valve or reattach radiator hose to engine.
13. Fill the radiator with the proper coolant. See the
Engine Owner’s Manual for the correct type of
coolant.
14. Install radiator cap.
15. Close engine hood.
