This chapter provides a description of the I-Gate 4000 PRO cards and of inserting
the cards into the I-Gate 40000 PRO's 32-slot chassis.
8.1. Card Description and Layout
The I-Gate 4000 PRO is encased in a 32-slot chassis, which provides two shelves of
slots for inserting cards: upper and lower shelf. Each shelf contains 16 slots (i.e. a
total of 32 slots). The lower shelf slots are numbered 1 to 16 and the upper shelf
slots are numbered 17 to 32. The input/output (I/O) cards and Main cards of the I-
Gate 4000 PRO are placed in the upper and lower shelves, respectively (see
Figure 8-1).
