Battery Terminals - Clean
Step 1:
Raise engine bay hood.
Disconnect battery ground using
Battery Disconnect
Switch

Step 2:
Remove negative (-) cables
(2)
, then positive (+) cables
(3)
.
Step 3:
Clean terminals and clamps with a stiff wire brush.
Step 4:
Apply a light coating of petroleum jelly around the base of each terminal.
Keep top of battery clean. If necessary, wash it with a baking soda solution,
then rinse with clean water. Do not let any baking soda solution enter
battery.
Step 5:
Install positive cable, then negative cable. Install plastic cap over positive
cable clamp.
Step 6:
Connect battery ground with
Battery Disconnect Switch
.
Step 7:
Close and lock engine access cover.
WARNING:
Battery post, terminals, and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds,
chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm.
Wash hands after handling.
