CPU Temperature Monitor 

A thermometer circuit constantly monitors the die temperature of the CPU. This circuit can be 
used to detect over-temperature conditions which can result from fan or heat sink failure or 
excessive ambient temperatures. 

The system can be configured to generate a Non-Maskable Interrupt (NMI) when the temperature 
exceeds the threshold. 

The CMOS setup is used to set the temperature detection threshold. A status bit in the Special 
Control Register bit D5 if I/O port 1D0h (or 1E0h), can be read to determine if the die 
temperature is above the threshold. 

Contact the factory for information on clearing the status bit or reading and writing to the 
thermometer circuit. See page 47 for additional information.
