Introducing UPS Operations
are within normal operating limits. If not, check and confirm whether switches Q1 and Q2 are closed. In the event
of a rectifier failure, the alarm indicator turns red (steady state). At the same time, close the bypass static switch
and, after a delay of 30 seconds, that the alarm indicator flashes in red. This completes the rectifier start-up
procedure.
•
If Eco mode is preferred, request the authorized Vertiv personnel to set up the Eco mode using the settings
software. This may also be done by selecting the corresponding action from the sub-menu in the Settings
section on the LCD screen.
•
Next, when the rectifier start process is completed and the indicator is illuminated in the steady, green state,
close the external BCB.
•
Press and hold the INVERTER ON key for 3-4 seconds. The inverter starts up and the corresponding
indicator displays a flashing green color
•
At this point, the UPS is in a dual mode state where it may be operated either in Eco Mode or Inverter mode.
If the bypass voltage is within the Eco mode operating limits, the UPS will automatically select Eco mode,
whereas, if it is not, the system will automatically switch to Inverter mode, and the indicator assumes the steady,
green state. However, as soon as the Bypass remains within the require operating limits for a period of more
then 5 minutes, the system will revert to Eco mode.
6.4
Procedure for transferrring between operating modes
This section includes a step-by-step description of the procedures for transferring between the various
operating modes.
6.4.1
Transfer from Normal mode to Battery mode
•
The external input power switch must be opened in order to isolate the mains power. Once it is opened, the
UPS automatically switches to battery mode.
•
To return to normal mode from the battery mode, wait for a few seconds, and then close the external input
power switch in order to reconnect the mains input to the UPS.
•
After a delay of 10-15 seconds, the rectifier starts automatically and the UPS reverts to normal mode.
6.4.2
Transfer from Normal mode to Bypass mode
To switch the UPS from the Normal mode to bypass mode, press the INVERTER OFF key for a period of 2-3
seconds. A pop-up window is displayed on the screen requesting confirmation. Once the transfer is confirmed,
the Inverter indicator is extinguished, and the UPS switches from Normal to Bypass mode.
Note
In this condition, the load is directly fed by the mains power supply and is not receiving conditioned power
through the inverters.
6.4.3
Transfer from Bypass mode to Normal mode
•
When the UPS is in Bypass mode, press the INVERTER ON key for a period of 2-3 seconds. A pop-up window
is displayed requesting confirmation.
•
Once the transfer is confirmed, the inverter enters Start-up mode and, within a few seconds, the inverter
indicator flashes green until the inverter enters the normal operational mode. At this point, the UPS has switched
from bypass mode to normal mode.
6.4.4
Transfer from Normal mode to Maintenance mode
Before explaining the procedure for switching the UPS from normal mode to maintenance mode, it is important to
take the following precautionary measures into account.
Warning
Check the information on the LCD screen in order to confirm that the bypass supply is within normal operating
limits and the inverter is synchronized with the bypass supply, so that there is no risk of a brief interruption in
the power supply to the load.
•
Press the INVERTER OFF key for a period of 2-3 seconds following which a pop-up window will be displayed
requesting the user to confirm the transfer. Once the transfer as been confirmed, the inverter indicator is
extinguished. Meanwhile, the bypass indicator switches on and the status indicator turns yellow, accompanied
by an audible alarm indicating that the load has been transferred to the static bypass. At this point, the inverter
is switched off.
