Maintenance of UPS and Options
The following are some of the common maintenance tasks that need to be performed tin order to prolong the
service life of the UPS and its components:
•
Maintain a detailed service log as this can help when dealing with failures.
•
Keep the UPS clean as dust and moisture may affect its performance.
•
Maintain a favorable ambient temperature. The optimum temperature range for the battery is between 20° C
and 25° C. If the temperature is too low, it will reduce the battery capacity significantly. Similarly, excessively high
temperatures will reduce its working life.
•
Wiring must be inspected regularly to guarantee uninterrupted operation and good service life. Inspect the
connection screws on a monthly basis and check the tightening torque once every six months.
•
Carry out a functional test on the switches install up- and down-stream of the UPS at regular intervals to
make sure that continue to interrupt the input and output lines when the current exceeded the prescribed limits.
Maintenance staff should have a good working knowledge of the UPS operation control panel settings and be
sufficiently well-versed in the typical UPS working conditions to able to determine of their own accord when such
conditions are outside the normal working limits.
