2.3.1. Components
Each core in the system consists of the following components:
• Rectifier - Provides regulated DC to inverter and booster/charger
• Inverter - Provides controlled AC output to the critical load
• Booster/charger - Charges the battery when line power is present. Supplies the inverter from the
battery when line power has failed
• Power Interface - Controls the bypass static switch
• Maintenance bypass - Disconnects the Power Module during servicing, without interrupting the
supply to the load
• EMC filter
2.3.2. Service maintenance
In some cases, maintenance work can be performed on one of the 300kW modules in a Trinergy™ Cube
system while the others continue to supply the load, provided that the load level does not exceed the
power capacity of the remaining modules. This operation may be carried out by authorized service
personnel only.
Trinergy™ Cube is equipped with a maintenance switch (QS3) that can be used to isolate the entire UPS
from all energy sources, allowing maintenance work to be performed on the system without interrupting
the supply to the load. Transfer to and from the maintenance operating mode must be done in
accordance with para. 4.3 on page 18 and para. 4.4 on page 18. This operation may be carried out by
authorized service personnel only.
2.4. Commissioning the UPS
2.4.1. Reforming the intermediate circuit capacitors
Whenever the UPS devices are not used for a period exceeding one year, the intermediate circuit
capacitors must be reformed before they are switched on. If the UPS devices are commissioned within
one year of the delivery date (as indicated on the nameplate), this action is not necessary.
2.4.2. Initial checks
• Check that the UPS is connected according to the Installation Manual and local electric codes
• Make sure the ground connection is in place
• Make sure the ventilation grilles are unobstructed
• Make sure that any external switches are in the OFF (0) position and that the UPS is completely
de-energized
• Make sure that any external batteries are disconnected
Contact customer service if the intermediate circuit capacitors must be reformed.
To commission the UPS, proceed as follows:
Danger
Do not connect any devices that may overload the UPS or draw direct current from it.
Notice
If these instructions are not observed correctly, problems may occur with the supply of
power.
