Checking the locking device

Risk of injury from a defective locking device!
The locking device prevents undesired lateral movement of the
Smart
Fork
®
on the profile of the fork carrier. Uncontrolled movement of
the Smart
Fork
®
during transportation could cause serious injuries due to
the load slipping and spark formation.
– Replace damaged locking devices immediately.
– If the locking device is missing, it must be replaced before commis-
sioning.
– Do not use the Smart
Fork
®
without a locking device.

Check the open and lock positions of the lever. It must be possible to move the lever to
the respective position without any difficulty by applying light pressure. If the locking
device is jamming, check it for dirt and deformation and, if in doubt, replace it.
n
Check the integrity of the locking device (Fig. 4/18 – 21). Replace the following compo-
nents immediately. If the locking device is incomplete, immediately ban further use of
the VETTER Smart
Fork
®
. Commissioning may only be carried out after a successful
repair.
n
Remove any dirt from the locking device.

Observe the following points when cleaning:

Regularly clean the Smart
Fork
®
.
n
Do not use a high-pressure cleaning device and do not use any aggressive cleaning
products.
n
Clean the fork blade and back with a broom or brush.
n
Clean the protective glass of the Smart
Fork
®
Front
Cam
with a soft cloth and soapy
water without applying any pressure.
