3.1. Using the Water Reservoir
The Vibiemme Domobar super 2B is set by the manufacturer to draw water from the
water reservoir
.
To access the reservoir, use the two handles to lift the
Cup Warming Tray
off the machine and place the cover
aside. The
Water Reservoir
, located in the rear of the machine, has one hose inserted into it. Pull it out of the tank
and lift the reservoir out of the machine. Use a small amount of mild detergent and warm water to wash the reservoir,
and rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of soap. Never use any abrasive scrubbing pads or brushes on the reservoir
as they will leave scratches in the plastic which may eventually harbor micro organisms. The water reservoir should
be washed in this way every two weeks or so to help prevent the growth of any undesirable organisms in the water.
Replace the
Water Reservoir
in the machine. Be sure that the hose enters the reservoir correctly and is not
kinked or pinched. Once you have verified that your water quality is appropriate for use in an espresso machine, fill the
Water Reservoir
. A funnel is recommended to prevent spilling water into the machine. Do not overfill. Filling it to
just below the level where the hoses enter the reservoir is fine.
Replace the cap on the reservoir. Get into the habit of regularly checking the reservoir’s water level. The large capacity
will not need filling as often as smaller machines, so it can be easy to forget to check the water level. Don’t worry. The
microswitch under the reservoir will temporarily disable the machine, including the heating element, if the water level
gets low, and the
Low Water Indicator Lamp
will be illuminated on the front panel alerting you to the situation.
If this occurs, simply refill the
Water Reservoir
.
Replace the
Cup Warming Tray
and confirm that the steam valve and the hot water valve are closed. DO NOT
tighten the valves until they stop. Lightly hand tighten only: be sure that the brew lever is in the full down position.
3.2. Direct-Connect to Existing Water Lines (Plumbing-In)
The Vibiemme Domobar super 2B is set by the manufacturer to draw water from the reservoir. To switch from
the manufacturer’s setting (water reservoir) to direct-connect:
• Angle the machine upward by holding the grouphead.
• Select the type of water supply– water connection – turn the knob 180° left.
• Screw the
Stainless Steel Hose
to the 1/8 BSPT charging fitting (the one on the left) and connect the other
side of the pipe (3/8 BSPT) to your existing water lines
• Place the machine down again, open the tap of your existing water line, and check the bars on the brewing
pressure gauge. The gauge will read the incoming water pressure even when the machine is off.
IMPORTANT :
make sure the incoming pressure is not above 4 bar; if this happens, install a pressure reducer.
As seen in chapter 3.4 of your other manual, the right pressure to brew espresso is between 9 -9.5 bar: this is the
bypass setting of motor-pump. If the incoming water pressure is more than the bypass pressure, the brewed water
flux will hit the coffee grounds too violently, over-extracting it. Over-extraction will negatively influence the physical and
chemical coffee values.
3.3. Using the Drip Tray for Waste Water
The Vibiemme Domobar Super 2B is set by the manufacturer to collect waste water in the drip tray. If
you use this kind of collection, please make sure to constantly check the water level inside the tank,
otherwise water could spill over.
Vibiemme is not responsible for any damage due to an incorrect use.
3.4. Direct-Connect to Existing Drain System
To connect the Vibiemme to your existing drain system, take the removable drip tray cover off for approx.
half of its length, then:
• Remove the cap (right side within the drip tray).
• Insert the drip tray coupling fitting, pressing it until it can go no further.
• Put the drip tray completely in, so that the drip tray coupling fitting inserts itself inside the rubber holder
fitting already on the machine.
• Return the drip tray cover to its original position.
• Angle the machine upwards by holding the grouphead, connect the drain tube to the rubber holder
fitting (the one on the right) then connect the other side of the pipe to your existing drain system..
IMPORTANT
: now your Vibiemme Domobar Super double boiler will drain the waste water through your
existing drain system. Do not open the drip tray while you are using this drainage system as you may
loosen connections and cause water leaks.
Vibiemme is not responsible for any damage due to an incorrect use.
