Your Vicair
®
Academy Allrounder is designed to be used as described in this manual.
Please read the whole manual before use.
The Allrounder consists of the following parts:
Outer cover & inner cushion
The outer cover and the inner cushion are integrated in one part. The outer cover is
fitted with straps to attach the Allrounder to your body. The inner cushion is made
up of zippered compartments. Each compartment is filled with a specific number of
triangular, air filled SmartCells™.
Seat cover
The seat cover is made of water- and incontinence-resistant material, which is two-
way stretchable. The seat cover is zipped to the outer cover.
Vicair recommends installation and adjustment of the Allrounder under the direct
supervision of your therapist or dealer.
• Remove the clear plastic wrapper.
• Place the Allrounder on a hard surface or a chair. Transfer from your wheelchair to
the Allrounder and make sure you are well positioned.
• Close the waist strap. The strap must fit on or just over the waistband of your
trousers.
• Close and tighten the two leg straps (not too tight). The elastic parts will minimise
skin and tissue compression.
Checking for “bottoming out”
Your tailbone and pelvic bones should be supported by the air cells within the cushion;
they must not touch the bottom of the Allrounder. Checking for “bottoming out”
should be done during first use and after adjustments to the cushion filling.
• Sit on the Allrounder for approximately 20 minutes.
• Whilst seated on the Allrounder, lean forward.
• Let your therapist or dealer slide a hand between the cushion and the buttocks.
• Make sure the buttocks are supported by at least one full layer of SmartCells.
• Do not use the Allrounder if bottoming out occurs. In most cases, adjusting the
filling grade of the compartments will solve the problem.
Adjusting the cushion filling
If necessary, the firmness can be adjusted by removing or adding cells from the
various compartments of the inner cushion.
