INSTALLATION AND OPERATION

MODEL: PHASE EIGHT+

 DISTRIBUTION AMPLIFIER

INTRODUCTION

The information in this manual covers the in-

stallation, operation, and maintenance of the

PHASE EIGHT Model

 Distribution

Amplifier.

This unit should be installed using approved

materials and wiring practices in accordance
with national, state, and local electrical codes
and ordinances.

The

 Distribution Amplifier provides six

identical video outputs from a single video in-
put. Circuitry utilizes individual complemen-
tary transistor pairs, providing six isolated video

output signals intended for

 loads.

The amplifier circuitry is housed in a PHASE

EIGHT module, encased in

protective cover,

and is designed for installation in the PHASE

EIGHT rack system.

INSTALLATION

In the basic

 configuration, the output

from one video source (camera or switcher) is
fed to the input connector of the distribution
amplifier, and six outputs from the

are

cabled directly to the input connectors of six
separate pieces of video equipment (monitors or
recorders). See Figure 1.

The V2

may also be used in more complex

systems. Figure 2 illustrates a branching video
system, in which video from a single camera can

be viewed at multiple locations. Monitors and
video devices cabled for non-terminating (loop-
ing) use may be used in the branch, however the
last unit in line must be terminated with 75
ohms.

ohms, either locally or remotely.

CONNECTING THE UNIT TO THE SYSTEM

1. Slide the

 Distribution Amplifier into

the PHASE EIGHT card cage from front to
rear, making sure to guide the line cord
through first.

2. Connect the video cable from a camera to

the connector marked CAM on the rear panel

of the

 See either Figure 1 or

Figure 2.

3. Connect video cables from Connectors 1, 2,

3, 4, 5, and 6 on rear panel of the unit t o

input connectors on the associated video

equipment. See either Figure 1 or Figure 2.

4. Terminate unused outputs of the

 in

75 ohms using Vicon

 Terminations.
