in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the
video product.

15. Servicing   Do not attempt to service this scanner

yourself as opening or

 covers may expose you to

dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to
qualified service personnel.

16. Damage Requiring Service   Unplug the scanner from

the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service
personnel under the following conditions

a. When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.

b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen

 the

scanner.

c. If the scanner has been exposed to rain or water.

If the scanner does not operate normally by following

the operating instructions.

e. If the scanner has been dropped or the enclosure has
been damaged.

f. When the scanner exhibits a distinct change in perform-
ance   this indicates a need for service.

17. Replacement Parts   When replacement parts are re-

quired, be sure the service technician has used replace-
ment parts specified by Vicon or have the same char-
acteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions
may result in fire, electric shock or other hazards.

18. Safety Check,   Upon completion of any service or re-
pairs to this scanner, ask the service technician to perform
safety checks to determine that the scanner

IS

 in proper

operating condition.

INSTALLATION

GENERAL

Fabricate interconnecting cables according to the appro-

priate cableassembly diagrams in Figure

 For

tion, the distance between the scanner and its control unit
should not exceed the distance given in Table I for the particu-
lar wire size used.

The cable should be Class 1 wiring in accordance with article

725 of the National Electrical Code.

MOUNTING THE UNIT

These

 and

 series scanners are de-

signed to operate indoors with loads weighing up to 15
pounds

 or 25 pounds

 respectively. Proper

performance depends on secure fastening to a suitable
mount with the camera correctly mounted and balanced on
the unit. The units are installed directly on Vicon

 or

 Wall Mounts.

If a Model

Square Mounting Base option is used,

refer to Instruction Sheet X505 (supplied with the mount) for

 instructions.

INVERTED MOUNTING OF UNIT

When units are mounted inverted, the left-right directions
are reversed for manual operation. This must be corrected
when wiring the cable between the control unit and the
scanner. To do this, reverse the leads going to pins 2 and 3
of the connector at one end of the cable. See Figures 3, 3C
and

for inverted mounting of scanner and camera.

WIRING THE UNIT TO THE SYSTEM

All scanners are supplied with the appropriate mating cable
connector. Prepare the control cable according to Figure 1.

If you have the

line cord option, plug one end of

the cord into the pendant cable connector on the scanner.
The other end

IS

plugged directly into a 120V wall outlet. The

mating connector supplied with scanner is not used.

SETTING LIMIT STOPS

The stop ring is slotted at five degree intervals except for a

15 degree solid edge containing a molded permanent stop

on Figure 2). The pendant cord identifies the back of the

pedestal. In the front of the unit the reversing switch actuator
(4) is visible between the stop ring and the pan housing.
Located on the stop ring are two adjustable plastic snap-on
limit stops (2 and 3). Remove both

 limit stops by pulling

outwards. Full 360 degree rotation is possible with limit

stops removed.

Perform steps 1 through 5 to establish

 limit

stop settings before mounting camera. Make sure that there
is adequate clearance for the camera and lens to rotate
through the required pan angle, and that the rear of the
pedestal faces away from the scene to be viewed.
