Employee Tractor Operating Instructions
◼
Securely fasten your seat belt if the tractor has ROPS.
◼
Avoid operating the tractor near ditches, embankments, and holes where possible.
◼
Reduce speed when turning, crossing slopes, and on rough, slick, or muddy surfaces.
◼
Stay off slopes too steep for safe operation.
◼
Watch where you are going, especially at row ends, on roads, and around trees.
◼
Do not permit others to ride.
◼
Operate the tractor smoothly; no jerky turns, starts, or stops.
◼
Hitch only to the drawbar and hitch points recommended by the tractor manufacturer.
◼
Set brakes securely when the tractor is stopped and use the parking lock if available.

Control
◼
The backhoe has two major control levers plus the stabilizer control levers. These controls are
located on the control panel directly ahead of the operator. See Figure2. The following text lists
the commands, with each function reading from left to right.
BOOM / SWING:
◼
Push the lever forward; the boom moves down, away from the operator.
◼
Pull the lever back, and the boom moves up toward the operator.
The Boom/Swing Control lever has an added
‘Float’ function
You feel a detent or stop when pushing the lever forward to move the boom down. Pushing the
lever forward will overcome the detent and cause the boom to float or move down or up freely,
depending on the forces acting on it. When the lever is released, it should return to the center,
neutral position.

Move the lever to the left, and the backhoe swings to the left.
◼
Move the lever to the right, and the backhoe swings to the right.
By moving the lever to one of the intermediate positions, the boom can be swung left or right at
the same it is being raised or lowered, performing the two operations simultaneously.

SWING LEFT AND LOWER the boom by moving the control lever forward and left.
◼
SWING LEFT AND RAISE the boom by moving the control lever back and left.

SWING RIGHT AND LOWER the boom by moving the direction of movement of the control
lever forward and to the right.

SWING RIGHT AND RAISE the boom by moving the lever forward to the right.

Left-Hand Stabilizer: Push the lever downward, and the LH stabilizer lowers. Pull the lever
upward, and the LH stabilizer raises.
4.
Right-Hand Stabilizer: Push the lever downward, and the RH stabilizer lowers. Pull the lever
upward, and the RH stabilizer raises.
5.
Crowed/Bucket: Push the lever forward, and the dipper stick moves away from the operator.
Pull the lever back, and the dipper stick moves toward the operator.
