Operator
Every well-skilled technical person can act as an operator. For safely using the Backhoe, the
operator must have the following specific professional knowledge:

General knowledge of industrial safety procedures.
◼
General knowledge of operating and functioning farm machinery.
◼
Basic knowledge and skills regarding Backhoe machinery.
5.1.3
Workplace
The workplace comprises the Backhoe seat. Other persons should never be around the machine.
5.2
Preparation
◼
Inspect the whole Backhoe visually and check all vital components like fasteners, hoses, pipes,
and connections for damage, kinking, wear or dirt.
◼
Check the hydraulic system for fluid loss.
◼
Check the level in the hydraulic oil reservoir via the gauge. Add oil if needed.
◼
Replace hydraulic oil if it is dirty or contaminated.
◼
Inspect bucket teeth, sharpen or replace them if necessary.
◼
Inspect the oil level in the gearbox for the hydraulic gear pump.
◼
Check the hydraulic gear pump for leakage.
◼
Check that the working area is relatively smooth and free of obstacles.
◼
Always maintain a full view of the working area during operation.
◼
Keep animals and children far away from the equipment.
Operate the Backhoe slowly for a short time before a full-time operation to get used to the
controls and check for hydraulic leaks before placing the unit under full load.

Ensure you understand all operating procedures for operating the VTI
Backhoe.
•
Use extreme caution when driving the tractor. Blind spots can be the
cause of severe damage, injury or death.
•
Watch for people, pets, potholes, stones, rocks and puddles of water.
•
BE SURE the area is clear of underground utilities or other hazards
•
POSITION a barricade around the work area.
•
PROVIDE adequate front-end weight to counter-balance the tractor at all
times. 20% of the total tractor.
