◼
Visually inspect the infeed bin and the flywheel before starting. Ensure that the chipper head is
clear, all the bolts are tightened, and the knives do not touch the case and the counter knife.
◼
Ensure the PTO shaft does not come apart or bottom out during the normal lifting range.
◼
Check the chip pile to see if the knives need to be serviced. Long slivers in the chip pile are one
of the best indicators of dull knives.
◼
It is NOT recommended to operate the woodchipper in temperatures below freezing. Hardened
steel (used on knives) can become brittle in temperatures below freezing and may result in
breakage. Ensure debris does not blow into traffic, parked cars, or pedestrians.
◼
Always stand clear of the discharge area when operating this machine. Keep face and body
away from feed and discharge openings.
◼
Keep hands and feet out of feed and discharge openings while the machine is operating to
avoid serious personal injury. Stop and allow the woodchipper to come to a complete stop
before clearing obstructions.
◼
Do not climb on the machine when operating. Keep proper balance and footing at all times.
◼
The disk will continue to rotate when the clutch is disengaged or reversing valves in the
median. Shut off the tractor, remove the ignition key, and ensure all moving parts have come
to a complete stop.
◼
Do not insert logs more prominent than 5 inches in diameter into the woodchipper or machine;
damage may occur.
◼
When feeding wood into the machine, do not allow metal, bottles, cans, or other foreign
material.
◼
Do not allow processed material to build up in the discharge area. It may prevent proper
discharge and kick-off material through the feed opening.
◼
Shut off the woodchipper immediately if it becomes clogged, the cutting mechanism strikes any
foreign object, or the machine starts vibrating or making an unusual noise. Shut off the engine,
remove the
tractor’s
ignition key and make sure all moving parts have come to a complete
stop. After the woodchipper stops: Inspect for damage.
◼
Check blade bolts for proper torque after every 8 hours of operation. Keep blades sharp.
Failure to do so may cause poor performance, damage, or personal injury and void the machine
warranty.

More Safety Tips for Safe Operation
◼
Always keep the guards and chip deflector installed properly while operating the chipper.
◼
Never leave the chipper running unattended.
◼
Do not attempt alterations, repairs, or adjustments while the flywheel turns.
◼
Always disconnect the PTO, stop the tractor’s motor, and put the key i
n your pocket before
attempting any alterations, repairs, or adjustments.
◼
Keep hands, feet, clothing, and other extremities away from the hopper (infeed bin) and any
power-driven parts. Wear snug-fitting clothing to avoid entanglement with moving parts.
◼
Do not wear loose clothing when working around the woodchipper. Personal injury can occur if
someone or something turns the flywheel over while checking the knives or adjusting the
cutter bar. The flywheel has enough residual energy to remove fingers easily.
