Determine the PTO Shaft Length; shorten it if necessary
To determine the proper length of the driveline; Follow this procedure:
◼
Attach the woodchipper to the tractor but do not attach the PTO shaft.
◼
Raise the machine until the input shaft is level and aligned with the tractor PTO shaft.
◼
Measure the dimension (A) between the locking grooves on the tractor PTO shaft and the
implement power input shaft.
◼
If the PTO shaft is too long, measure the dimension (B) between both locking pins.
◼
Calculate distance C and do the following to shorten the PTO shaft:
◼
Use a hacksaw to cut distance (C)
from both ends.
◼
Cut C from both the plastic cover
tubes and from the metal cores.
◼
Use a file to remove all burrs from
the cut edges.
◼
Assemble the two ends; use grease.
◼
Make sure the shaft can telescope
freely before installing.
Check the PTO Shaft
’s minimum overlap
◼
Always ensure the PTO s
haft’s collapsible length is acceptable.
◼
When fully extended, the PTO shaft's maximum allowable length must have a minimum
overlap of the two telescopic parts, not less than 1/3 the free length, with both inner and outer
telescopic parts of equal size.
◼
The minimum and maximum telescoping on the PTO shaft is 26”
to 32”.
