Product Information
IM-HC 599871 0321 RABS
End Devices
Wi-Fi capable end devices that are compatible with the RABS software
are required to operate the RABS wirelessly. Connections via smart
phone will have limited functionality.
RABS functions available through a smart phone include:
Language selection
Operating mode selection
Enabling/disabling of unoccupied mode
Indication/setting of power levels
Indication/setting room temperatures
Fault diagnosis
Load software updates
Initial setup of the control device cannot be accomplished
with a smart phone. A laptop or tablet is required.
2.5.2 Software
For software requirements, see
Ä
2.4.2 “End Device Software and
Network Requirements” on page 25.
2.6 Operation Methods
Convenient radiant heating systems should fulfill the following
requirements:
Control all heating circuits in a building centrally via an end device.
Permanent, dynamic, hydraulic balancing of the heating circuits.
Immediate response to priority zone heat demands.
The functions and features on RABS can be configured to meet these
requirements. While a good design is critical to the success of any radiant
system, RABS can also compensate for imperfections and inconsistencies
that occur between the design and the installation. This section describes
the user interfaces and operation methods available to the end user.
Notes
The control unit communicates with thermostats and range
extenders at 916 MHz — independent of the WLAN module.
The firmware on the microcontroller inside the control unit contains
the logic for heating operations. The end user executes this logic by
selecting a power level on a circuit hub, adjusting the target
temperature on a thermostat, or using the RABS operation software.
The WLAN module is required to access the RABS operation
software. The end user can connect to the WLAN module with an
end device through Wi-Fi or an RJ45 cable.
Smart phones will have limited operation software functionality
compared to computers or tablets. See
for limited operation details.
