Starter Motor Test (12 Volt Vehicles)
This test identifies excessive starter current draw, which makes starting difficult and shortens
battery life.
Only perform battery load test and proceed if battery capacity is GOOD.
EnGInE MuST BE AT nORMAL OPERATInG TEMPERATuRE
1. Disable the system ignition (Do not start the engine ).
2. Connect the negative (black) clamp to the negative (NEG, N, -) battery terminal and the
positive (red) clamp to the positive (POS, P, +) battery terminal. Do not press the load switch
(ENTER).
3. Crank the engine and note the lowest voltage reading during cranking. ( Note: Two persons
may be needed)
4. A meter reading of 9 volts or less indicates excessive current draw. This may be due to bad
connections or a failing starter motor. Also check if the battery is suitable for the vehicle’s
requirements.
4. cleaning
The ViGOR Battery Tester should be cleaned regularly with a common solvent-free and non-
abrasive detergent.
