WORK ADVICE
Using the belt sander you can surface grind large surfaces in a very short amount of time. To
avoid furrows, and visible transitions between sanding tracks, please abide by the following
advices:
Move the device parallel to the direction of the fibres. Make sure not to push the belt sander
forwards for more than 2/3 of the length of the device (about 20cm). This guarantees that no
transitions are visible between the sanding tracks.
Do not apply additional pressure when using the device. Its weight is suffcient pressure. This
prevents damage to the sanding band, the surface become smoother and consumes less
energy.
Keep the tool moving at all times.
The movement of the belt sander should be at a constant pace. This guarantees an equally
distributed abrasion.
The belt sander is also applicable to removing rust from steel or paint and lacquer
residues. However, please abide by the following advice:
A sanding band that has been used to work on metals, should not be used to work on other
materials.
In particular, when sanding lacquer residues these may melt and smear across the surface of
the material and of the sanding band. Worn out, damaged or torn sanding band should not
be using as they may damage the material. Therefore replace the sanding bands in time.
Sandpaper may be found in various grain sizes. The smaller the number of graining, the finer
the grain size. The spectrum ranges from 40 (very fine) to 280 (very rough).
Various types of wood require different types of sandpaper.
Type of wood
Grain size
Soft wood (such as pine, larch or spruce)
Up to 220
Fine pored wood (such as beech or acorn)
120 to 150
The sand paper should be stored at room temperature and relatively low moisture. Significant
deviations from this, can cause deformation of the material, drying out, or softening of the
adhesive agent.
To complete the work on one surface, complete three full sanding procedures.
