Weather station, KNX standard, power supply 12-32 V DC or 12-24 V AC.
The weather station integrates with the By-me home automation system for managing
temperature control, energy and automation systems. The weather station measures
variables such as temperature, wind speed, rainfall and brightness whose values can
be used for:
- viewing on monitors;
- activating automation systems in the home automation system on exceeding the
threshold based on limit values.
IMPORTANT: The weather station can also be installed before being configured
as long as the physical address is assigned by pressing the configuration button.

OPERATION.
•
Brightness measurement
: the current brightness is measured by the specific sensor.
•
Wind measurement
: the strength of the wind is measured electronically and is
therefore quiet and reliable even in the event of hail, snow and sub-zero temperatures.
The weather station is also able to detect whirlwinds and updraughts.
•
Precipitation measurement
: the weather station is equipped with a sensor with a
heated surface so that only the raindrops and snowflakes (and therefore not fog or
dew) are measured as precipitation. Once it has stopped raining or snowing, the
sensor dries quickly and the precipitation message is turned off.
•
Temperature measurement
: the weather station measures the value of the current
ambient temperature.
•
Control outputs for all values
: the limit values can be set via the respective
parameters or via the ETS communication objects.
•
8 AND logic gates and 8 OR logic gates each one with 4 inputs
: the control
operations themselves as well as the 8 logic inputs (in the form of communication
objects) can be used as inputs for the AND and OR logic gates; the output of each
gate can be configured as 1 bit or as 2 x 8 bits.
The weather station functions and parameters are configured via the ETS software;
the program file (in VD format), the manual and the technical info sheet are
available for download in the Software->Product Software section of the website
www.vimar.com.
CONFIGURATION.
Take off the cover and press the configuration button to engage the device;
the bus
address assigned by default is
15.15.250
. Using ETS it is in any case possible to assign
a different address to the weather station, overwriting the current value.
When you press
the button, do not touch any other components on the circuit board.
The weather station 01546 can also be used with the By-me home automation
system by configuring it with EasyTool Professional. For the clone and updating
the device the PC with the software must be connected on the same area-line
as the weather station; the By-me router does not permit transferring KNX
messages that are indispensable for the configuration. For all the details about the
configuration procedures, see the EasyTool Professional installer manual.
INSTALLATION RULES.
• Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel in compliance with the current
regulations regarding the installation of electrical equipment in the country where the
products are installed.
•
The installation, testing and commissioning of the weather station must be
performed only by qualified personnel.
• The weather station should be installed in such a position as to allow optimal
measurement of rainfall, wind, snowfall and sunshine by the sensors.
• The weather station should not be located in parts of the building where there is any
dripping onto the sensor especially when the precipitation is over.
• The weather station should not be located in areas of shade caused by the presence
of trees, buildings or parts of them.
• To enable measuring the wind correctly and, in the case of snowfall, prevent the
weather station from getting covered with snow, it must be installed with a clearance
beneath it of at least 60 cm.
• Take care that no awnings create any shadows on the device and that it is not located
downwind.
• The temperature measurement may be subject to alteration by external agents such
as, for example, heating or cooling of the component on which the sensor is mounted
(solar radiation, heating pipe or cold water pipe); to remedy this and achieve the
required accuracy, use ETS to balance the temperature changes due to such sources
of interference (temperature offset).
IMPORTANT:
• Do not open the device if there is a risk of ingress of water (rain); even a few drops can
damage the circuit board.
• Pay close attention to the connections; an incorrect connection may damage the
sensor or the electronic device to which it is connected.
• During installation, take care not to damage the temperature sensor (small plate at the
back of the box).
• Do not detach or put strain on the cable connecting the circuit board and the
precipitation sensor.
• After installing remove all the protection labels affixed for transportation.
•
After switching on the auxiliary voltage, the device will enter the initialization phase
for a few seconds; during this time no data can be received from the bus.
•
The measured wind strength, and therefore also the associated control outputs,
may be used from 1 min after powering up with the supply voltage.
• At least twice a year check the state of cleanliness of the device and clean it if
necessary; if there is too much dirt the sensor might not work properly.
• Do not use any high-pressure devices or blasts of steam for cleaning.
•
During the cleaning process, in order to prevent any system components from
moving and being a risk for people (for instance, movement of the window/awning
if raining/windy), disconnect the device from the wall socket outlet (for example,
disable/remove the fuse).
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE.
EMC directive.
Standards EN60730-1, EN 50491.
WEEE - Information for users
If the crossed-out bin symbol appears on the equipment or packaging, this means the product must
not be included with other general waste at the end of its working life. The user must take the worn
product to a sorted waste center, or return it to the retailer when purchasing a new one. Products for
disposal can be consigned free of charge (without any new purchase obligation) to retailers with a
sales area of at least 400 m
2
, if they measure less than 25 cm. An efficient sorted waste collection for
the environmentally friendly disposal of the used device, or its subsequent recycling, helps avoid the
potential negative effects on the environment and people’s health, and encourages the re-use and/
or recycling of the construction materials.
