Tips   and   Guidelines

42

If   you’re   concerned   about   the   weight   of   your   load   and   won’t   have   access   to   a   way   to   recharge   batteries   in   the
wild,   three   sets   of   lithium   batteries   weigh   only   half   as   much   as   six   sets   of   standard   batteries,   so   again   their
long   life   makes   them   the   obvious   choice.
However,   you   pay   for   that   extra   recording   time,   and   if   there   is   no   compelling   reason   to   use   lithiums,
rechargeables,   or   rechargeables   plus   standard   batteries   for   backup   are   probably   the   better   choice.
There   is   another   consideration   when   deciding   about   lithium   batteries.   Lithium   batteries   are   not   as   easy   to
recycle,   and   have   more   environmental   implications   than   their   alkaline   and   rechargeable   battery   counterparts.
Lithium   batteries   should   always   be   disposed   of   properly,   and   not   every   place   that   accepts   alkaline   and   NiMH
batteries   will   accept   lithium.
