Positioning a tube
Open the two chucks sufficiently.
Insert the tube from the rear, if the working configuration allows this, such that the end of the
tube to be machined is level with the tool to be used.
Centre the tube and tighten the chucks starting with the front chuck.
Note: The front chuck is a hammer chuck: strike several blows towards you (when you are on
the operator’s side) to tighten the jaws onto the tube.
To loosen the chuck, give successive blows in the opposite direction.
Positioning short tubes
Place the tube in the front chuck and tighten the chuck just so it holds the tube.
Lower the die head and move the saddle so that the dies come into contact with the tube

Use the dies in the die head to centre the tube and tighten the front chuck.
