2553/ 2553E Command Guide
Remote Without Local Lockout
In this state the 2553/ 2553E displays REMOTE above the rightmost soft key and
pressing this key commands the 2553/ 2553E to return to the Local state. The NEXT key
is the only other active front panel key, allowing the user to switch between display
screens, but not actually alter any configuration details. Commands received from the
IEEE488 interface are executed as received, and data may be read from the 2553/ 2553E
as required from the interface.
Remote With Local Lockout
The state is the same as the Remote Without Local Lockout state, with the exception that
the rightmost soft key is inoperative.
Remote/Local State Transitions
•
The 2553/ 2553E enters either of the Remote states when it becomes addressed
while the IEEE488.1 interface REN line is asserted by the controller.
•
The 2553/ 2553E enters either of the Local states when the IEEE488.1 interface
REN line is unasserted by the controller.
•
The 2553/ 2553E enters either of the Local states when the IEEE488.1 interface
command GTL is received from the controller.
•
The 2553/ 2553E enters the Local Without Local Lockout state when the 2553/
2553E is initially powered, or following action of a *RST command, or following
receiving a DCL or SDC IEEE488.1 interface command from the controller.
•
The 2553/ 2553E enters either the Local With Local Lockout or the Remote With
Local Lockout state when the LLO IEEE488.1 interface command is received.
Device Clear and Bus Clear
The 2553/ 2553E uses the IEEE488.2 recommendation of a three level bus and device
clear strategy.
IEEE488.1 IFC Command
The IEEE488.1 defined "bus clear" command (normally named IFC) performs the
following operations.
•
All pending data read or write operations via the interface are aborted.
•
The data "
receive
" and "
transmit
" buffers are cleared. Note that any definition of
the data to be read from the 2553/ 2553E is not cleared.
•
The "
status byte
" (as returned by a serial poll) is cleared.
