5.
Set the 2553/ 2553E configuration to the default values by sending the following
data: SETDEFAULTS<NL>
If the REN line was asserted in the previous step without sending the 2553/ 2553E
listen address, then this operation will achieve this and place the 2553/ 2553E into
the REMOTE state.
This sets the factory default measurement configuration into the 2553/ 2553E by means
of a single command. In this manner the user only needs to reconfigure those items
required, rather than configuring all items.
Checking the Product, Version and Option Content
In many cases it may be desired to ensure that the product being controlled is actually a
2553/ 2553E (rather than another product in the 2553/ 2553E family), and to check that it
has the correct option content for the application. Although there are none at this time, it
may be possible that compatibility issues occur between different versions of firmware in
the 2553/ 2553E. This is of particular importance if a future version adds a new feature
that is not currently available. If the user software is reliant on this new feature then it is
important that the version of 2553/ 2553E firmware is checked for compatibility. This
can be checked by sending the any of the following interrogative commands and reading
the responses to them from the 2553/ 2553E.
VER?
To obtain the firmware version from the 2553/ 2553E.
PRODUCT?
To obtain information regarding the product and option content of
the 2553/ 2553E.
Alternatively the *IDN? And *OPT? commands may be used.
As an example of this –
1.
Send PRODUCT? ; VER? <NL> to the 2553/ 2553E.
2.
Read the 2553/ 2553E. No delay is required after sending an interrogative command
and reading the 2553/ 2553E. The 2553/ 2553E automatically holds sending data to
the controller until the previously requested data is ready to be sent. An example of
the data read by the controller from the 2553/ 2553E is <SP>2553/
2553E/40A/950V,0100<NL>.
The user can program string comparisons to check for product, option content, and
firmware revision using this data string.
