READ and UPDATE commands
These commands are used to control obtaining measurement data from the
2801/2 in the normal manner.
UPDATE=value – sets the rate at which new measurement data becomes
available to this interface to ‘value’ milliseconds. If UPDATE=0 is specified
then the measurement results are only updated each time that a new
READ=data command is received, but not at any other time.
READ=data – specifies the data which is to be read by the interface.
Data is a set of one or more data request definitions, each separated from any
others by the comma character. Each data request definition follows a
common general format –
Note: For RS232 after sending the READ = command, you must send the
character “ ? ” to the unit or you will not get a reply

Keyword
defines the general data being requested
Fields
contains none to many additional specifications which serve
to exactly define the data being requested. Each field
specification is separated from any others by the comma
character. If no fields are specified then the square braces
may be omitted.
In general the ‘fields’ portion is made up of none, one or more than one
textual specification, followed by either a) none or three integer specifications
or b) a single integer specification followed by none or two floating point
specifications.
The available textual specifications are selected as none or one from each of
the following groups, these may be specified in any order, but must always be
before any numeric specifications –
