Symptom Possible

Solutions

The LED on the Universal Remote
Control does not blink when a
button is pressed.

Replace the batteries with two (2) new alkaline batteries.
See “Inserting batteries” on page 11.

The Universal Remote Control LED
blinks when a component selection
button is pressed, but the
component does not respond.

Make sure that you are less than 15 feet (4.5 meters) from
the infrared remote sensors on the component.

Make sure that nothing is blocking the infrared remote
sensors on the remote control or the component.

Make sure that you have chosen the correct component
selection button.

Make sure that the remote is programmed for that
component.  See “Programming the Universal Remote
Control” on pager 34.

Check that the component’s original remote control will
operate the component.

The Universal Remote Control will
not accept the component program
code.

Make sure that you followed all the steps in the
programming procedure.  See “Programming the Universal
Remote Control” on pager 34.

Make sure that you tried all the program codes listed for the
component manufacturer.  See Appendix B – Component
Program Codes” on page 54.

Search for the component code.  See “Searching for
Component Codes” on pager 34.

The Universal Remote Control
does not control home
entertainment components or
commands are not working
properly.

Try all listed codes for the component brands being set up.
Make sure they can be operated with an infrared remote
control.

TV/VCR Combo does not respond
to the Universal Remote Control
properly.

Use the VCR codes for your brand.  Some combo units
may require both a TV code and a VCR code for full
operation.

No volume on a 2nd TV.

Follow instructions for “Changing Volume Lock”, see page
36.

Changing channels does not work
properly with the Universal Remote
Control.

If original remote control required change channels does
not work properly, press ENTER on the universal remote
after entering the channel number.

The PIP Remote Control does not
work.

Check if the Remote Control batteries are dead and if
necessary, replace them with new batteries.

Make sure that nothing is blocking the infrared remote
sensors on the remote control or the DLP TV.
