Fan Temperature Switch
The Gas Engine Driven 30 CFM Air
Compressor’s cooling fan temperature
switch is normally open and closes at 88 °C (190 °F) turning on the fan. The
temperature switch is located in the top of the WHASP Tank cooler
(Figure 58).

Testing
Connect a multimeter to the harness and direct a heat gun onto the
temperature switch for a few minutes. Once the switch reaches 88 °C
(190 °F
), resistance on the switch should drop to 0 Ω.
Compressor Temperature Switch
If the compressor
’s oil temperature exceeds 140 °C (284 °F), the thermostatic
switch located in the compressor discharge cap will disable the engine
ignition system. The cooling fan will continue to run until the temperature at
the switch drops below 139 °C (282 °F ) (Figure 59).

– compressor temperature switch location
The engine will not run until the compressor system has
cooled enough that the temperature switch closes.
Testing
Use a multimeter to measure the resistance through the switch. The
resistance should be 0 Ω when the system is cold.
