SLOT
The configuration of the Audio Card is similar to all other V100 Options, with the exception that only one
card can be displayed on the screen at a time due to space limitations; if a second card is fitted it is
accessed by toggling the “Slot” field. All of the configuration parameters are displayed down the screen,
with general settings at the top and settings for the Encoder and Decoder at the bottom.
DESTINATION
There is only one logical channel for the whole card, so destinations will always be of the form “X:X:1”.
ACTIVATION
The “Activation Time” parameter allows the user to operate the card dynamically, with bandwidth only
being used when there is a signal on the input, for example speech-operated. When a transmission
begins, the connection to the remote decoder is made and the card uses bandwidth according to the
“Coder Bit Rate”. When it ends, the Activation Time holds the connection open for the selected duration
before clearing it. If a new signal is detected before the end of the period, the timer is restarted. This may
be used to bridge the time between music tracks, for example. The input signal threshold is adjusted
using the “Activation Level” parameter, which ranges from 1 to 10 in a logarithmic manner. When the
“Activation Time” is set to zero, the channel is permanently active.
