6 Safe use
The VOGT compressed air devices enable you to work quickly and effort-
lessly. However, powerful compressed air devices do pose some funda-
mental risks. Pay attention to the information in Chapter 3, “General safety
instructions,” as well as the following information:
General information
Always hold the VOGT compressed air device in both hands when working
with it:
With the VOGT Hammer, put one hand on the stick or the optional
handle (Z 625 and Z 650 respectively) and the other on the handle.
With the VOGT TurboSpade / Soil Aerator / Air Injector, place your
hands on the top right and left of the T-handle.
Keep the tool on the material to be worked.
Do not operate the compressed air device when it is not in contact with
the material. Doing so will increase the vibrations and the wear to the tool
and chisel holder.
The handle and stick are designed to guide the compressed air device,
not to exert additional force on the material. Only apply as much physical
strength as is required so that the compressed air device overcomes the
resistance from the tool guide, the blows move forward, the compressed
air device does not jump up, and the material is actually worked.
When working with the VOGT Hammer / TurboSpade, adopt a comfortable
posture, make sure you are holding it securely, and avoid uncomfortable
positions or any in which it is hard to keep your balance. You should shift
your posture when working for long periods, which can help to stave off
discomfort and tiredness.
Always be prepared to counter usual or sudden movements.
The device can only be used as a lever to a limited extent. Doing so exces-
sively can crack the stick or tool.
The user’s hands can be exposed to hazards including blows, cuts, grazes,
abrasions, cold, and heat while using the device. Wear suitable gloves to
protect your hands.
Users must be physically capable of handling the size, weight, and power
of the device.
Should the compressed air supply stop suddenly, release the trigger lever
immediately.
Use of the VOGT Hammer / TurboSpade can cause unpleasant sensations
in the hands, arms, shoulders, chest, or other parts of the body while per-
forming work-related tasks.
If you experience symptoms such as persistent discomfort, pain, throb-
bing, aching, itching, deafness, burning, or stiffness, you should not ignore
