6.2 TRACK MUTING
The Mute function allows performance of one or more tracks to be eliminated from the
performance during playback of a song. This means that any note events on the track to be
eliminated will be filtered, i.e. the instrument assigned to them will not be heard.
As for the other REAL TIME ADJUST functions, pressing the [MUTE]) key quickly activates
(LED on) and/or deactivates (LED off) the current function, while pressing it for longer gives
access to the setting page of the function itself.
6.2.1 MUTE SETUP
The MUTE SETUP function allows the user to set which tracks will be disabled when the
Mute function is activated.
When the [MUTE] key is pressed for 2 seconds, the display will show the
MUTE SET-UP
page, relating to the settings of the function of the same name:
The
Track
field, next to the [F1] key (it can therefore be selected using this key) allows the
user to set which of the 16 tracks will be affected by the Mute operation.
The second field (selected using key [F2]) allows the user to choose whether to eliminate
from the playback (
Muting=YES
) or to retain (
Muting=NO
) the track specified by means
of the
Track
parameter.
The third field, for display only, shows the name of the timbre associated to the Program
Change (General MIDI table) currently present in the selected track. Since the Genius is a
reader with Direct-to-Disk reading system, the value of the Program Change refers to the bar
currently selected (first line of the song) when the instrument is in Stop condition). The value
-
indicates that the datum is not set in accordance with the standard commands (it might be
defined by means of exclusive system messages).
This video page allows the user to set more than one MIDI channel (Track) in Mute status, and
whenever it is selected by means of the
Track
field its status will be displayed on the basis
of the current condition.
After the [ENTER] key is pressed the new setup will be memorised and can be enabled or
disabled by pressing the [MUTE] button quickly. By default, track n. 4, normally used for the
melody line of the song (Lead), is set in Muting status. Pressing the [ESC] key aborts the
modifications.
