Fuel temperature sender
The fuel temperature sender is located in the
upper housing of the distributor-type injection
pump.
Its signal informs the engine control unit of the
coolant temperature and the control unit adapts
the fuel volume accordingly.
Functional description
The fuel density changes with the change in the
fuel temperature. The injection volume must be
correspondingly adapted to ensure an optimum
combustion process.
Substitute function
In the event of the fuel temperature sender
failing, the last temperature value is stored in the
MDC control unit.
Effect
The injection volume can no longer be
determined correctly. The MDC now determines
the injection volume according to the value last
stored.
